(It’s Right-Wing propaganda so keep reading. All of these, I do not support. The last one got me so damn mad, I devoted a post to it. Be warned. This is a long post. I swiped it from Generation X-Pose.)
I. THOU SHALT NOT PLACE THY GOD BEFORE ANYONE ELSES’ GOD
II. THOU SHALT NOT PUT JUDEO-CHRISTIAN IDOLS IN PUBLIC PLACES
III. THOU SHALT NOT PRACTICE HATE SPEECH
IV. REMEMBER GAY-LESBIAN AWARENESS DAY AND KEEP IT HOLY
V. HONOR ALL MOTHERS AND THEIR REPRODUCTIVE RIGHTS OF CHOICE
VI. THOU SHALT NOT OWN FIREARMS OR ANY WEAPON OF DEFENSE
VII. THOU MAY FREE HAVE ADULTEROUS AFFAIRS, EVERYONE DOES IT
VIII. THOU SHALT NOT ROB THE STATE OF ITS PROPER TAXATIONS
IX. THOU MAY GIVE FALSE TESTIMONY IF IT IS ABOUT THY SEX LIFE
X. THOU SHALT NOT COVET THY NEIGHBOR’S RIGHT TO HEALTH CARE, WELFARE, FOOD STAMPS, OR ANY OTHER ENTITLEMENT OF THY NEIGHBOR.
People have a right to healthcare. I take offense to people saying otherwise because of my father. Let me tell you about him.
My dad hasn’t been able to work for about three years–although he has been steadily working since age 14. When he was born, about 2 weeks overdue, there were complications and he was put on oxygen. Unfortunately, a malfunction occurred and he suffered some brain damage.
Although he is a pretty intelligent person and is talented, he is unable to really grasp the written word. He’s awesome at math, can draw unbelievably well, and can build almost anything…still… he can’t read above a third grade level. In phonetics.
As you can imagine, this makes life hard for him. It’s getting increasingly difficult for someone to get a job who doesn’t have a high school diploma. So he remained unemployed when he got the diagnosis: prostate cancer.
If it wasn’t for state provided insurance, I doubt he would have been able to afford the surgery to remove the prostate and subsequent radiation treatments. He probably would be dead right now. It’s been about two years after his surgery–and he got through with radiation treatments some time ago and he is physically wiped out. He can’t hold down a job right now. He wants to, but he is still just too tired.
So for people to get on their high horse and say health insurance is for those that work for it, cheeses me off because my father does not deserve to die because he is unemployed. I feel as if some people are saying, “You don’t work? You don’t get access to healthcare. I don’t want to pay for your bills on my tax dime.”
Honestly, people who act like that make me so mad. They refuse to consider any allowances as to why someone can’t work. They don’t even ask. People with that kind of mindset just assume the unemployed person is lazy.
[Edit]
I’ll also add here that Jesus, according to the bible, never hesitated to heal someone because of lack of ability to pay. He healed those who needed it, so please get off your pseudo-intellectual-religious kick and start acting like compassionate Christians.
(If being a Christian means I have to act like some people in this comment section, I think I’d rather remain a godless heathen. I may go to hell, but at least I’d be going for what I perceive to be true.)

Right on. It’s not a black and white issue, it’s not either people are working or they are not. It seems to me that the people most filled with rage and hate over this issue are the ones who probably resent working and would milk the system themselves if only they could still have their BMWs in the garage.
