I just found this blog via Mr. Manuel, and as I read it, I had to cringe. Go read the book. Lil ol me can wait. You read it? Good. Now I can proceed. Book burning? Because of no room to keep books? There is always an alternative to destroying books. There might be some inconvience involved, but it’s better than fire. I wouldn’t burn any book, even if it belongs to a religion I don’t subscribe to.
(Only books that I can justify throwing in the recycling bin are of any literature that promotes hatred and misunderstanding. SOME good might as well come out of such printed “garbage”.)
Books are more than just tree pulp and glue, they represent hopes and dreams and ideas. I love to hear other people’s ideas and theories…especially if I don’t agree with them. I love exploring unforgettable worlds and to envision characters living within such man made borders. I love to read even poorly written novels because it helps with my own writing. I’m continously amazed by the wealth and knowledge stored by such ordinary objects.
Can you tell I’m a biblophile?
