Yeah….someone at work is trying to sell an authentic Hitler ring, saying it is cursed and he doesn’t want it. (If I believed in curses, I’d go….Well, duh! It’s a ring commissioned by Hitler. HITLER! Of COURSE it is going to be cursed!)
Where should I begin?
Who on earth would want to collect memorbilia from a regime that slaughtered MILLIONS of innocent people? I have an active interest in morbid things, but my interest doesn’t stray to actually collect artifacts from a horrible time in human history. That ring belongs A) in a museum to help educate and remind people about the Holocaust or B) melted down, like the ring in the LOTR. I prefer option B, myself.
My good, oft-times neglected common sense tells me that is is tacky and hurtful to capitalize on such a terrible human event the death of millions, that although we need reminders of the persecution of those the Nazi party targeted, we need to be respectful as well.
Am I being too sensitive? Or–as my former therapist would say–too neurotic?
UPDATE: The ad has been removed from the bulletin board. Apparently, I wasn’t the only one offended. Hope the poster didn’t lose his job.

Truthfully, although I am against everything they did and find it horrible, I would collect something like that. Awful as it is, it is a piece of history.
