I try but words won’t come
My mouth is silenced
My heart refuses to be undone
It’s easy to be pessimistic
It’s hard to be positive
Don’t settle for middle of the road.
All the bad things come back to haunt me
When my working day is done
I’m supposed to make mistakes, supposed to grow
I’m sorry for not being able to love you
I’m sorry for not letting go when it was time
I’m sorry for all of my transgressions.
Please forgive me for every lie I’ve told.
Just a few but I killed the honesty of my soul.
I’ve loved /still love/ you as much as you’d let me.
Tears brighten my eyes as I try to comprehend
Your leaving.
An Old Poem
Time is ephemeral
Fleeting at best
Slipping through fingers
That wrinkle with Age
Live life to the fullest
Smile as wisdom flows
Through your veins
The best is yet to come
Fretting about things not done
Is futile and self defeating
Take cheer in accomplishments
And learn from failures that hurt
–Written by Me
(I wrote that about four years ago. Been a little too occupied to come up with original content, but I’ll try to come up a little something new tomorrow. Operative word: try.)
Soul Fade
I can feel you slipping away
Perhaps I need to let
you go today
Things aren’t how they used to be
I think letting you go is
the best for me
The sun is shining on
my face
In my heart is your
place
I will never forget what you meant
to me
But it’s time for me to
finally be free
When times were
dark and I was alone
You let me know
I had nothing to atone
The
night has passed and the day is here
Being
strong is something I no
longer fear
Never Believe
Heard his sweet words
Trusted in them
Made you soar like a bird
Took your trust, used it
tossed you aside
in favor of a new girl
Don’t listen to a beautiful lie
When the ebb of passion subsides
Faith will fade like a gossamer web
Never believe when someone
Says you are special
‘You may be, but only for the moment
Words, cheap as sun
mean nothing to anyone
Verbal arrows
seek to hurt and maim
and bring you to down to a valley of pain
Ignore them, all of them
that say you’re beautiful
but neglect to show you
Fuck them all
let the liars burn
in their shame
Don’t share your passion
that rare inner
flame
that belongs to only you
with those born of cruelty
Let it burn for the One
who proves your beauty
through his deeds
.
